Knee
What might cause clicking & pain in my knee, usually up and down stairs?
There are two structures within the knee joint. These structures are cartilage based tissues that support the knee joint and provide some cushion. The tissues are circular shaped discs that rest on the top of the tibia; lower leg bone, and are referred to as meniscus. There are two, medial and lateral. Sometimes in certain injuries or with time the meniscus wear down and ultimately may tear. A tear of the meniscus may and often is very small. Regardless of how small a tear may be it will often present with clicking. Any signs/symptoms that are present will be further enhanced by stairs; mostly with descending.
